Carr Textile is willing to ship products UPS Collect from Mill locations (not our Chaffee, MO location) provided that the following waiver is signed and that the Mill allows us to use a UPS Collect shipper number.Background: UPS has offered a UPS collect service that offers their customers the ability to ship freight collect into their business. When this service was first introduced, Carr Textile began to ship freight collect upon customer requests. After using the service, Carr Textile experienced many problems and obstacles as noted with this waiver and agreement: Declared Values: Declared values were not assigned to packages. When a package was lost by UPS, the customer would not pay Carr Textile for the invoice, yet the customer controlled the freight. We experienced lost rolls with invoice values of $600, yet we were only able to collect $100 from UPS. We found that most of our mills do not insure the parcels and do not follow such instructions. By signing this agreement you agree that in the event of a lost package, the customer will file all paperwork necessary to process the claim. Carr Textile’s invoice will be paid in full. Carr Textile will not be responsible for incorrect declared value as we know that the mills typically will not put the correct value on the package.
Shipping Methods: We will not be responsible if your goods are shipped out UPS Pre-paid in error. Our system is set up to ship out UPS Pre-paid not UPS Collect. In the event we ship out a shipment UPS Pre-Paid, we will not be responsible for additional freight charges that you may have incurred. Bogus Shipping Numbers: We have had customers give us wrong or bogus account numbers. We will only ship out goods for established customers that are in good credit standing. While a customer may think that they are taking total financial responsibility by shipping Collect, Carr Textile as the shipper is ultimately responsible for the freight bill if it is un-collectable.UPS Charge Backs: We find that UPS audits often find that packages should have Additional Handling Fees for oversize or dimensional weight parameters which were not noted at time of shipment. Instead of charging back the shipper number for the Collect packages, UPS charges back the shipper. With the hundreds of packages shipped out each day the length and complexity of our UPS Invoice, it takes our staff a lot of additional time figuring out what shipments went out Collect and trying to explain to a customer that we need to get reimbursed for a shipment that went Collect. In the event that UPS finds that a weight or a dimension was entered in wrong, and UPS bills Carr Textile back for the overage, then we will bill this overage on to you. Handling Charges: Some mills charge handling charges to ship UPS Collect. If they charge us, then we will have to charge you.
Chaffee Missouri Location: In an effort to expedite our shipping process and give better information to our customers we have implemented a new inventory system which is tied directly into the UPS system. This system is very automated and e-mails shipping confirmations directly to you. In order to keep our shipping system efficient and keep our costs low, we cannot shipUPS Collect from our Chaffee, MO warehouse. We will be happy to make truck shipments freight collect.
Our entire system is set up to ship by UPS Prepaid and orders are expedited through at a more cost effective and faster rate. The UPS Collect may save you some pennies, but the extra risk is high. In fact, we have experienced all of the above situations. Ultimately we want to satisfy our customers, so if you absolutely need some items shipped out UPS Collect we will accommodate you from our mills only.
